Dear Family,
Well you might have noticed that I am emailing a lot later than usual! On Wednesday night we got a call informing us that we would all be going to Charlotte on Monday because we had a member of the 70 coming to speak to us! Super exciting, but it's been a stressful day, because we don't get a "makeup" P-day or anything. And our drive from Charlotte is 2 hours, so we just got back at 4:30, and our P-day ends at 6! It has been a stressful day, to say the least. We get some time tomorrow to shop, luckily. But getting to hear from Elder Zwick was great! And it was my first time at a Mission Conference, where all the missionaries gather. So that was pretty neat too! I got to see Sister Whitmer and told her a million things about what's been going on here in Colfax!! So we are also going to Charlotte on Saturday for another two general authorities to speak to us, and then again on the 31st for the trainer/trainee meeting in Charlotte. So I have another 8 hours of driving in the next two weeks :P
Wow, this week was long! On Tuesday I went on exchanges to High Point. Most exciting thing of all: we got to do service for a deaf lady in their ward, and we signed and signed for an hour and a half while we packed up her things for her to move! And then later that same day we were out tracting and there was a deaf person I talked to from afar as they were going into their apartment. I was super happy! :) Also fun fact: High Point is the furniture capital of the world! They have huge furniture conventions there and there are dozens and dozens of furniture stores. There is even a huge building-sized fake dresser with socks hanging out of it on the street. Who would have known?? We taught a lot while I was on exchanges. Sad for Sister Rendon though, who was here in Colfax, wasn't able to teach at all! I felt so sad and like I was failing here! So I prayed and prayed we'd be able to teach more, and we did!
There were lots of little miracles we were able to have. There was one address that was a "former investigator" that we decided to stop by on, and it ended up not being who we thought it was! But we got to meet this lady, Page, who came out holding a cigarette in her hands and was as friendly as could be. She just started telling us about how God is being taking out of our nation and how sad it was and she started tearing up when she talked about when we would be raising kids in this world, and then she just hugged us! I started explaining prophets and how God loved His children in the Bible and gave them prophets, and then I told her that we have a prophet on the earth today and he actually spoke to us a few weeks ago, and she was SO EXCITED! She just kept saying "Why did I not know this??" And I went on to say "Just like God loved His children then and gave them a prophet, He.." and she just finished my sentence and said "He loves us now!" and she was on the verge of tears the whole time! She had to go in to take care of her dogs, but she hugged us again and we are going to go back and teach her this week :)
Also, Scott (who I have known since I got here basically) has come to church three times now, and after attending Kevin's baptism, has said that he realized that "normal guys" like him can be a part of the church! So he called us up and said "remember when you and Sister Whitmer invited me to be baptized September 28th? Well, is that still something I can do? I really want to work towards being baptized." And we said, "Sorry, Scott, it's too late for you to get baptized. You missed your chance."
Just kidding, we didn't say that at all! Haha :) We were very excited. Hopefully this time he will be able to progress better.
Being a trainer is hard! Luckily, Sister Rendon is not hard at all :) She is so wonderful. We're like best friends! The part that is hard is that I have to be responsible for decisions. That's kind of tricky. But I get lots of support from the ward and from everyone else. So that's nice.
I am sending a letter tomorrow that kind of goes into a few more things about this week. It was a hard week and a rewarding one as well. But I am ok :)
OH! I LOVED the package!! It was so so so great. I was overjoyed. I loved it so much. Thank you thank you!!! :)
I love you all so much. I love getting to hear how you are all doing :) Sorry I didn't have more time to respond to your emails. I loved your picture Heather, of you throwing leaves. I printed it out I loved it so much :) Mom I have been thinking a lot about you this week too! and Dad I love your NC connections!! :) Landen, good job on your super hard soccer game! You're a trooper!

Sister Adams
