Another 6 Weeks in Colfax!

Dear Family,
I don't even know if I told you that transfers were this week. Surprise! Haha. But I am staying in Colfax with Sister Rendon. And thank goodness for that, because I want to spend the holidays with her and with the ward here! The next transfer is going to be on Christmas Eve, so Elder Peterson (one of the Colfax elders) said it will probably be moved. He said it might be moved to before Christmas. Which I am PRAYING it does not get moved to before Christmas, because I will most likely leave Colfax next transfer. Sad to think about.

Anyyyway. Things are pretty good here. We are having a really hard time finding people to teach. I think there is a bug going around where people really don't like us, because we can't even say two words before most of them close the door in our faces. My favorite is when people yell "Who is it??" and Sister Rendon and I look at each other half-laughing and say "... the Sister Missionaries!" And then no one comes to the door. Oh well, that's missionary life for you :)

This week's not-so-funny missionary joke comes from when we were trying to visit a member of the ward and they lived at the end of a really really long driveway. Out here there are lots of houses that are tucked away in trees and you can't even see them from the road. So we made the journey down into the forest and we were wondering how long it would be until we found the house. We started talking about how great it would be if we found a hidden village that wasn't even on the map (kind of like Narnia or something) and they were just all prepared to hear the gospel. And they would all join the church, and they would have to create a new branch just to fit everyone. Hahaha. Oh man. I am sorry you have to hear all of these awful jokes, but I know I would regret not writing them, because I want to remember all of these little things one day.

S is doing alright. Probably not getting baptized this Saturday. He  hasn't been able to meet with us for a week and a half. We still talk to him on the phone all the time, but haven't met with him. It's been a little frustrating. He tells us all the time how he wants to get baptized, but doesn't meet with us. But I am trying to be patient :)

This weekend was Stake Conference, and it was SO GOOD. Missionaries don't usually get to go to the Saturday session, but the First Presidency specifically directed every stake to invite the missionaries. Elder Meredith of the 70 came and spoke. He was an incredible speaker. President and Sister Craven also came, which is always a treat. About 20 minutes before stake conference started on Saturday night, we were told that the stake president and Elder Meredith went and visited the B family (who we are teaching right now)!!! What a surprise! They said it was wonderful, and Elder Meredith talked about it in his talk. He said that they were talking to F about how he felt coming to church, and he said "It feels like we're part of the family when we go to church". WOW! I was so happy. President Baughn (stake president) said he really connected with F and wanted to continue to visit him. Yay!!

Earlier this past week we taught M and D. He (M) is a less-active member and she (D) is not a member, and they are both from Cameroon, Africa. She speaks French and is learning English, so we finally got her a French Book of Mormon and she was SO happy. She just kept looking at it and smiling. We taught the Word of Wisdom as well and at first she was a little confused about the coffee and tea, but after we explained the blessings and that sometimes we don't know the reasons why we are asked to do things, she was totally all for it! She said "Yes, that makes sense!" and she wholeheartedly agreed to live the Word of Wisdom! :) :) Yay!

Well, things are changing a lot with transfers! We are getting a third Elder in Colfax, so we are just busting at the seams with missionaries. It's fun though. I love getting to be around other missionaries!

Keep praying for us that we will find people to teach here! :) We would really really appreciate it! Thank you so much for everything!! Thank you for the letter mom :) So so sweet. And thank you for the package you sent too! I am so lucky to have such a supportive family!

Love you all and miss you :) Holiday stuff is popping up everywhere! I can't wait to see and talk to y'all soon!

Love,
Sister Adams
